Following the departure of the 120,000th China-Europe Railway Express train, Chengdu International Railway Port has welcomed another milestone. On December 5, 2025, the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing) Global Partnership Conference was held in the Chengdu International Railway Port Economic and Technological Development Zone. Nearly 500 representatives from Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, including suppliers, international logistics providers and executives of major manufacturing enterprises, gathered to explore deeper cooperation opportunities and seek new achievements with the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing).
Driven by an interconnected network, logistics flows more efficiently than ever. The service network of the China-Europe Railway Express starts from 128 cities across China, connecting 232 cities in 26 European countries and more than 100 cities across Asia, forming an extensive logistics network spanning the Eurasian continent. Domestically, the western, central and eastern corridors serve as major transport arteries, working together with six key border ports to ensure stable train operations. Internationally, the northern, central and southern routes provide diversified logistics corridors, creating new trade channels between Asia and Europe. With the integration of rail, sea and land multimodal transport, upgraded ports and improved customs efficiency, a Silk Road logistics network covering most of Eurasia has taken shape.
Innovation drives both growth and quality improvement. Powered by continuous innovation, the China-Europe Railway Express has achieved simultaneous upgrades in operational scale and service quality. Transportation organization has been optimized, with increased train capacity and improved traction efficiency. Digital port systems and railway express customs clearance services have significantly enhanced border-crossing efficiency, making speed and reliability key advantages of the service. Logistics solutions continue to evolve, with full-route timetable trains providing more predictable delivery schedules. Advanced equipment and technological innovation now support the smooth transportation of more than 50,000 types of goods across 53 categories, helping Chinese smart manufacturing reach global markets.
Trade connects markets and creates shared opportunities. As an important link under the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe Railway Express has become a bridge for regional cooperation and economic development. It enables Chinese products and European goods to move efficiently in both directions. Automobiles, photovoltaic products and electronic equipment are transported to Europe via the Silk Road, while wine, cheese, maternal and infant products and other specialty goods enter the Chinese market. Countries such as Kazakhstan and Mongolia have gained new access to international markets, while cities including Chongqing and Xi’an have attracted large-scale industrial investment. Małaszewicze in Poland has developed into a key logistics hub in the European Union. The integration of railway transport and trade continues to create new consumption scenarios, support employment growth and deliver broader benefits to communities along the route.
From the ancient Silk Road, where camel caravans carried grapes and fine wines across continents, to today’s steel caravans carrying Chinese intelligent manufacturing products toward Europe, the spirit of connectivity continues.
