According to a statement released by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) on May 6, 2026, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenzhen) achieved strong growth in both volume and quality during the first quarter of the year. A total of 64 trains were operated, transporting 7,404 TEUs of cargo with a total value of US$322 million. The figures represent year-on-year increases of 64.1%, 88.5%, and 119.1%, respectively, marking a strong start to the year.
To date, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenzhen) has operated more than 1,000 trains in total, with 28 export routes connecting 47 countries and regions. The service has transported goods worth over US$3.8 billion, supported more than 8,000 enterprises, and continued to serve as a key cross-border logistics corridor connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with global markets.
With coordinated efforts from the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau and Shenzhen International, monthly export train services have remained stable at more than 20 departures. Freight volume on Europe-bound routes increased by 201.5% year on year, while transit time to inland European destinations has been shortened to approximately 17 days, significantly improving supply chain efficiency and competitiveness for enterprises.
Since its launch in August 2020, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenzhen) has continued to optimize specialized routes to Central Asia, Laos, and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan corridor, expanding its Eurasian logistics network. The Shenzhen International Comprehensive Logistics Hub has expanded its railway lines from 2 to 6 tracks, significantly improving cargo handling and transfer capacity. The hub is moving toward becoming one of Asia's largest multimodal transport centers, supporting an integrated logistics system that seamlessly connects road, rail, and sea transportation.
