According to China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd., the Erenhot Railway Port in Inner Mongolia handled a total of 1,515 China-Europe Railway Express trains during the first part of this year, transporting 144,900 TEUs of cargo, representing year-on-year increases of 19.7% and 12.3%, respectively.
As the only railway border crossing on the Central Corridor of the China-Europe Railway Express, Erenhot Railway Port currently operates 75 international rail routes, connecting more than 70 logistics hubs across over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland. Domestically, the port serves most major China-Europe Railway Express departure cities. As rail freight volumes continue to expand, the cargo mix has steadily shifted toward higher-value products, with new energy vehicles (NEVs), automotive components, advanced machinery, and household appliances becoming an increasingly important share of exports.
To ensure stable and efficient China-Europe Railway Express operations, Erenhot Railway Port continues to strengthen cooperation with Mongolia's Zamyn-Uud Station through a "daily communication, monthly coordination" mechanism. The two sides have further implemented an integrated border station operating model, enabling real-time sharing of train flow data, yard capacity information, and operational status while jointly resolving cross-border transport issues to improve rail freight efficiency.
"We continuously optimize China-Europe Railway Express operations by improving train scheduling, increasing train formation efficiency, and enhancing coordination across operational procedures, providing reliable transport capacity for both import and export cargo," said Yun Zhijun, Director of the Dispatching Workshop at Erenhot Railway Station under China Railway Hohhot Group.
In addition, China's railway authorities have fully expanded the Railway Express Customs Clearance program while leveraging the China Railway Logistics 95306 Digital Port platform. These measures have reduced customs clearance processing time at the border crossing to as little as 30 minutes, further improving the efficiency of international rail freight between China and Europe.
