Changchun New Area China-Europe Railway Express Volume in First Four Months Exceeds Full-Year Total of Last Year

Published: May 27, 2026

In just the first four months of this year, Changchun New Area has achieved remarkable results in expanding international trade and logistics connectivity. According to statistics, from January to April, the China-Europe Railway Express service in Changchun New Area transported a total of 8,830 TEUs of cargo, with a total value of approximately RMB 845 million, surpassing the entire annual shipment volume of 2025. Meanwhile, the newly developed "rail-sea intermodal transport" channel, an important driver of foreign trade growth, also performed strongly, with a cumulative transport volume of 10,096 TEUs. The rapid growth of these two international logistics corridors indicates that the Changchun New Area Land Port Hub has entered a new stage, shifting from basic infrastructure connectivity to large-scale logistics growth.

Behind these impressive figures is an efficient and coordinated operational system involving multiple parties. To address the long-standing challenge of container shortages faced by foreign trade enterprises in Jilin Province, Jilin Oriental Land Port Development Co., Ltd., together with Jilin Logistics Group and other partners, has strengthened strategic cooperation with Russian Railways (RZD) BA and China Railway Multi-Modal Transport, establishing dedicated China-Russia cross-border logistics channels and ensuring sufficient container resources to support large-scale international shipments.

To further improve transportation efficiency, Changchun Xinglong Customs has optimized inspection procedures, while Liaoning Port Group has introduced measures such as a "green port collection channel" and "direct loading upon arrival." Through coordinated efforts among multiple parties, the entire rail-sea intermodal transportation process has been shortened to approximately 8 hours, achieving efficient same-day transportation. Supported by intelligent terminal management systems, loading, unloading, customs declaration, and inspection processes are completed through an integrated on-site operation system, effectively reducing logistics costs and improving efficiency for enterprises.

To enable Jilin enterprises to connect with global markets through local logistics channels, Jilin Oriental Land Port has actively expanded its nationwide agency network. The company has established cooperation agreements with logistics platform companies in Xi’an, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Beijing, Shenyang, and other cities, becoming a first-level agent for multiple China-Europe Railway Express platforms. This not only improves its ability to secure railway capacity but also represents a transformation from a local logistics terminal operator into a nationwide China-Europe Railway Express capacity operation platform.

Through cooperation with Jilin Logistics Group, both parties have focused on developing a balanced two-way logistics model featuring "loaded outbound and loaded return" operations, effectively improving resource utilization. During the first four months of this year, a total of 44 export China-Europe Railway Express trains were operated, carrying cargo valued at approximately RMB 640 million, providing strong logistics support for key industries in Jilin Province, including machinery manufacturing, chemical products, complete vehicles, and household appliances.

At the same time, efforts have been made to organize return cargo resources. A total of 68 inbound China-Europe Railway Express trains were operated, with cargo value reaching approximately RMB 203 million, creating a stable logistics channel for both "going global" and "bringing in" high-quality resources. Currently, this efficient international logistics corridor is continuously transporting Jilin-made products, including automotive components, agricultural products, chemical products, and industrial goods, to markets in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, and other regions.

From "using external channels to access global markets" to "building independent international logistics capabilities," Changchun New Area is gradually developing an open economic structure featuring coordinated land-sea connectivity and two-way international circulation. In the future, Changchun New Area will continue to deepen cooperation and develop new logistics models such as cold-chain railway services and dedicated cross-border e-commerce trains, providing stronger support for Jilin Province's integration into global supply chains and international trade networks.
