Published: December 19, 2025

Erenhot, Inner Mongolia, December 18 (People’s Daily) — On December 15, a China-Europe Railway Express train loaded with 55 forty-foot containers departed from Erenhot Railway Port. The milestone marked that the annual freight volume of China-Europe Railway Express trains handled by Erenhot Railway Port exceeded 5 million tons, increasing 22.7% year on year and reaching a record high.

Located at the core of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, Erenhot Railway Port is the only railway border port for China-Europe Railway Express trains on the central corridor. To date, more than 21,000 China-Europe Railway Express trains have passed through the port.

Railway authorities have continued to expand the international logistics network. Since the beginning of this year, Erenhot Railway Port has added several new China-Europe Railway Express routes, including Wuhu–Moscow, Liulihe–Minsk, and Datong–Selyatino services. The number of operating China-Europe Railway Express routes has now reached 74, connecting more than 70 logistics hub stations in over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland, while linking with most major departure cities in China.

To ensure efficient operation of China-Europe Railway Express services, Erenhot Railway Port has optimized transportation procedures, improved loading and unloading arrangements, and established dedicated green channels for China-Europe rail freight. By leveraging the railway freight 95306 digital port system and strengthening coordination with customs, border inspection, and other authorities, the port has improved customs clearance, priority inspection, and transshipment efficiency. The border inspection process for each train has been reduced to around 20 minutes, making China-Europe Railway Express operations faster and more efficient.

Since the beginning of this year, Erenhot Railway Port has achieved multiple milestones. On September 8, the cargo volume of China-Europe Railway Express trains surpassed 300,000 TEUs, reaching the milestone 23 days earlier than last year. On November 20, the annual number of China-Europe Railway Express trains passing through the central corridor exceeded 3,500 for the first time, setting a new record. As of December 15, Erenhot Railway Port had handled 3,807 China-Europe Railway Express trains this year, transporting 5.0094 million tons of cargo and 433,600 TEUs, representing year-on-year increases of 17.1%, 22.7%, and 16.2%, respectively.
