China-Europe Railway Express Central Corridor Surpasses 2,000 Train Trips This Year

Published: June 2, 2026

The China-Europe Railway Express (CRE) continues to strengthen its role as an important international rail freight corridor connecting China and Europe. According to China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd., on June 2, 2026, a China-Europe Railway Express train loaded with 55 containers departed China through the Erenhot Railway Port, marking that the number of China-Europe freight trains passing through Erenhot Railway Port has exceeded 2,000 trains since the beginning of this year.

As the only entry and exit railway port of the China-Europe Railway Express Central Corridor, Erenhot Railway Port has implemented an optimized operation model that prioritizes China-Europe freight train services, including train arrival, shunting, container transfer, loading and unloading operations, and the return of empty wagons after unloading.

The port has further strengthened cooperation with Zamyn-Uud Railway Station in Mongolia through the “two-station integrated operation” model. By establishing regular daily communication and monthly coordination meetings, both sides share information on train flows, station capacity, and operational conditions, ensuring efficient and stable operation of China-Europe Railway Express services.

“We have strengthened coordination with customs authorities, border inspection departments, and other relevant organizations. By utilizing the 95306 ‘Digital Port’ system and promoting paperless customs clearance, we continue to improve the efficiency of China-Europe Railway Express operations. The customs clearance time for trains can now be reduced to less than 30 minutes at the shortest,” said Wang Jinzhong, Deputy Director of the Freight and Passenger Transport Management Department at Erenhot Railway Station of China Railway Hohhot Group.

Currently, China-Europe Railway Express routes operated through Erenhot Railway Port have expanded to 75 routes, reaching more than 70 logistics hub stations across over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland. (Reporter: Li Zhipeng)
